Callbacks will be on December 21st. The cast will be announced on Friday, December 22rd. For the first round of auditions, students should choose one of the songs listed under the following categories:
- “Colors of the Wind” – girls
- “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” – boys
- “Seize the Day” -- boys/girls
Students interested in a lead part should audition individually. Students interested in being in the chorus may sing with a partner. During initial auditions students will only sing. For call backs, students should be prepared to sing again and read for characters.

All students planning on auditioning should pick up an information sheet, an audition sheet and the appropriate music from Mrs. Paffenroth or Mrs. Tiegs in the choir room. Chilton Elementary and Middle School Library will celebrate with a library fine amnesty week, bookmark contest, and paperback book exchange.
AMNESTY: Ask for amnesty for library fines and it will be provided this week.
BOOKMARK CONTEST: The bookmarks must be about books, reading, or libraries. Bookmarks will be handed out to students on card stock, 8 1/2 x 2 3/4 in. Judging criteria will include: uniqueness, creativity, how well the bookmark communicates its message, and artistic merit. It is suggested to use scrap paper to design the bookmark, and then transfer it to the card stock with black ink. Name, Grade & Teacher should be written on the back of the bookmark. One winner per classroom in the elementary school and one winner in each grade in middle school will receive books for their efforts. The bookmarks of the winners will be reproduced for April’s School Library Media Month and/or next year’s Read Aloud Month. Bookmarks are due the last day of school in November.
PAPERBACK BOOK EXCHANGE:
Bring good conditioned/slightly used paperback books to the library any time before November 10.
Receive a coupon, good for as many books as you brought in, to be used during lunch/recess on November 13.
Older students may choose to exchange two picture books for one chapter book.
In order to encourage family members to read together in the home, CE&MS Library is sponsoring an event that will run the whole month of November.
For each book, chapter, magazine or newspaper article read aloud to someone in the family during November, CE&MS students may fill out a read aloud slip with author and title information. Parents/teachers may decide how much is read in order to fill out a ticket according to their child’s reading/listening ability. Read Aloud slips may be filled out with books read for other requirements.
Read aloud slips will be collected by the classroom teacher or turned in at the library. Deadline is the first school day in December.
Student Prizes will be awarded on three levels.
Level one: Each participant will receive a reading certificate and bookmark.
Level two: Each K-4 classroom and at each grade level 5-8, a random drawing will be held for items related to reading and our current theme.
Level three: K-4 level and 5-8 level: Random drawing for a reading t-shirt and/or paperback series of the student’s choice.
